Additional Opportunities


The student Ministerial Association provides the opportunity to enhance ministry training beyond the classroom through peer support, accountability, worship, prayer, fellowship, and guest speakers. Students who feel called into ministry are eligible for membership.


Koinonia is for female students who are called to Christian service or who are interested in enhancing their Christian service involvement. The organization provides inspiration and information and encourages ministry involvement through community opportunities.


The BMC chapter of Theta Alpha Kappa is one of over 250 nationally, and was the first in the state of Mississippi. This national honor society for students in religious studies recognizes and encourages excellence in student academic effort for its members who have met the stringent induction requirements. Christian Ministry majors and Ministerial Association members are expected to be involved in active church service and numerous students serve in volunteer and paid church leadership positions. In addition, students may earn College credit during their junior or senior year through a supervised internship if approved through the Office of Academic Affairs.


For students who graduate from BMC, who desire to earn graduate-level study, and who choose to remain in the area, New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary satellite center at BMC offers a selection of graduate courses. The seminary also grants seminary credit for certain coursework completed at BMC under the Department of Biblical Studies.
